MENTORING PHASE

The Develop a Business programme will also provide participating businesses with a significant mentoring resource which will be concentrated in the area of most need as identified in the initial training needs analysis.

In assessing the prior knowledge, experience and resources of each participating business, Delivery Hub assessors should identify the areas where subsequent mentoring would be most effective in developing the business. Specialist mentoring will be available in each of the module subject matter areas and it may also be possible to provide mentoring in a mix of areas.

Each participating business will have access to four, half day, one to one mentoring sessions. Mentoring time may be structured in any way subject to the availability of specialist mentors and the participating business concerned provided that prior approval is obtained from the local delivery hub.

Given the short timescales available for the pilot, it is important that mentoring needs are assessed as early as possible so that mentoring resources can be managed effectively.

Participants should also be reminded that implementation of any aspect of business activity arising from the mentoring phase remains their own responsibility.

A list of mentors together with their respective specialist areas will be made available to each of the delivery centres.

Riona Carroll

"The Develop a Business Programme should be of enormous help to those businesses who have already established themselves.

The modules which make up the programme together with a practical format including a course tool-kit means that those participating can make the most of the time invested in the programme."
